Meet and greet by your personal guide at the Windhoek airport. He will take you to the city of Windhoek and after a short city tour your journey will begin to a luxurious Lodge, situated a mere 29 kilometers South East from Windhoek on a hilltop overlooking a spectacular landscape on a 6000-hectare Nature Reserve. Gocheganas is a Luxury Lodge offering a unique combination of Wildlife, Nature and Wellness experiences. The route takes you via the scenic Spreetshoogte Pass to the Namib Rand Nature Reserve, where you will spend 2 nights at a beautiful lodge in an absolutely unique dune landscape. The Wolwedans Dunes Lodge is perched on top of a dune plateau, overlooking panoramic vistas in all directions and capturing the beauty of the desert in a most memorable way. Your first nature drive will be offered in the afternoon till sunset. Guided by a highly skilled conservationist, your early morning nature drive on the privately-owned 185 000 ha nature reserve will instill the beauty and tranquility of the desert. Return to the lodge for brunch. Enjoy a nature walk, a village sustainability tour or another drive in an open vehicle to experience the many facets of the flora and fauna in the Namib Rand Nature Reserve. After a leisurely breakfast you will depart to the Namib Naukluft Park, where you will visit some of the highest dunes in the world in Sossusvlei and the Dead Vlei under the warm afternoon sun, the best time for photography. Observe the Dead Vlei where red dunes provide a breathtaking backdrop to centuries old dry trees standing in the desert. The local meaning of Sossus means 'place of no return' and the word vlei is an Afrikaans word for 'marsh.' After breakfast you will proceed via the Gaub & Kuiseb Passes and the Namib Desert, where, despite the aridness one can often spot wild animals grazing in the harsh environment. You will reach the coast at Walvis Bay with a visit to the lagoon with its huge assembly of flamingoes and other oceanic birds. Arrival in the quaint coastal town of Swakopmund at around 16h00. An early transfer to Walvis Bay for a Catamaran ocean and dolphin cruise to Pelican Point is today’s treat. Enjoy the antics of the seals jumping onboard and a good possibility of sightings of dolphins frolicking along-side the boat. Sparkling wine, fresh oysters and snacks are on the menu. Return to the harbor at 12h30 and back to Swakopmund, where the rest of the day is to your disposal. Bed & Breakfast – Strand Hotel ****
The tour continues along the coastal road via Henties Bay, crossing the desert into Damaraland, passing the prominent Brandberg, the highest mountain in the country towards Twyfelfontein. This is Namibia’s first World Heritage Site, famous for its rock engravings and paintings. The outing is guided by locals from the Damara tribe. Enjoy a guided nature walk in the morning before proceeding via Khorixas, passing the Vingerklip rock and Outjo, to a lodge situated in a private game reserve of 25 000 ha bordering the Etosha National Park. Here guests have a water level view of the prolific wild and birdlife at Ongava Game Reserve, in a setting that inspires intimacy without intrusion. Spend the day on a game drive through the Etosha National Park and enjoy excellent game viewing at various waterholes en route to the eastern part of the park. Exit the park at the Lindequist gate and spend the next two nights at Mushara Outpost, situated just 10 km from the Park in a private game reserve. Mushara Outpost is all about old-fashioned hospitality with warm, friendly and personalized service on the doorstep to the wonders of Etosha National Park. On route to your next domicile a stopover at Lake Otjikoto can be arranged. Then continue via Otjiwarongo to Okonjima which is also home to the AfriCat Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to the long-term conservation of Namibia’s large carnivores, especially that of the endangered cheetah. Via Okahandja you return to the Capital of Windhoek. In Okahandja you can find an interesting wood market suitable for souvenir shopping. If the time allows it, you can do some last souvenir shopping before your tour guide takes you to the airport for your flight home.
