A guided tour, that first takes you to the eastern side of the country.
Vividly experience the traditions of the oldest tribe in Namibia, before you
continue to the western part of the Okavango Delta in Botswana. Plenty of greenery
and lots of water await you here and the stay on a houseboat will certainly be
a memorable event, as will be the visit to 3 different National Parks, which
will quench any open desires for game watching. The visit to the famous
Victoria Falls will bring this diverse and contrast-rich journey to a close.
Welcome to Namibia. You will be welcomed by your guide at the airport. First your guide will take you on a city tour of the capital Windhoek and then you will continue northward via Okahandja and Otjiwarongo. Enjoy the afternoon at the swimming pool or observe the wildlife that regularly visits the waterhole at Frans Indongo Lodge. This is the ideal place to wind down from a long strenuous flight. The owner, Dr. Frans Indongo, is one of the most notorious and successful businessmen in Namibia. The fact that he is Ovambo, makes his success all the more significant, as he belongs to the former suppressed population sector. The lodge and the interior are stylishly decorated with traditional elements from the Ovambo culture and constructed like a “kraal”, for example wooden poles as fences. The hosts, Astrid and Alf Walter, create with heartiness, excellent cuisine and a lovely garden and atmosphere of wellbeing. In the evening you can enjoy a great view into the setting sun from the terrace. Dinner, Bed and Breakfast – Frans Indongo Lodge
After breakfast the route will continue via Grootfontein to the so-called Bushman Land. Experience the wilderness and the wildlife in the Nyae Nyae nature reserve. During your two day stay you will be enjoying a half-day tour to the traditional settlements of the San-Bushmen. Tsamkxao is a local guide of the Bushman community around Tsumkwe and works for the Tsumkwe Lodge. His job is to guide visitors and to educate them about the life and the aborigines of Namibia. The lodge belongs to TUCSIN (The University Centre for Studies in Namibia) and serves alongside the lodge operation as a training facility for several bush people. The half-day village visits offer insight into poison production, tracking, explaining of hunting strategies, production and purchase of jewelry etc. You will learn many interesting things during your sojourn. In the afternoon you will visit the “Giant Baobab tree” with your tour guide. These trees are considered to be survival artists, as they survive in meager soil and with low precipitation. Furthermore, the fruit from the Baobabs possess many ingredients, which turn them into super foods. Baobab trees are also known as living pharmacies. Dinner, Bed and Breakfast – Tucsin Tsumkwe Lodge
Today you will drive with your guide into the neighboring country Botswana. In the North-Western corner of Botswana, situated on the banks of the Okavango River, in the panhandle of the Delta, you will find lush green lawns and tall, shady indigenous trees, a paradise called Drotsky’s Cabins. Here you are not only able to enjoy the rich vegetation alongside the river, but with a bit of luck you are also able to observe Hippopotami, Crocodiles and a magnificent avifauna. Botswana’s well-known barbel migration takes place from August to October and a boat cruise from Drotsky’s is the perfect way to witness the feeding frenzy of the Barbel Run phenomena. Thousands of barbel swim upstream in the Okavango River, thrashing with their tails onto the water to create confusion amongst the smaller fish species, which soon become the barbel’s next meal. The ever-opportunistic tiger fish join in the hunt, while hundreds of Egrets, Darters and Cormorants follows suite, and keen fishermen cast their lines and try to hook “the big one”. Dinner, Bed and Breakfast – Drotsky’s Cabin
Your tour guide will take you back to Namibia and if time allows, you will be making a small detour to the Popafalls. A more than impressive way to explore the Caprivi area with its inexhaustible biodiversity is a cruise with Ndhovu Lodge’s houseboat. Certainly another highlight on your journey to Namibia. Sail through the tranquil waters of the Okavango. The Safari Houseboat is the first on the Okavango River. From here you observe the avifauna, experience the hippopotami in their natural environment and occasionally elephants are moving past the banks. Grand sunsets and sounds of the night in the wilderness of the Caprivi are just some of the elements for an unforgettable safari experience. On land, the regular Game Drives take you to view a multitude of wildlife in nearby Game Parks. Full Board – Ndhovu Lodge Hausboot
The route on this day will continue eastward along the Caprivi Highway. The next lodge is located hidden amidst a lush pristine forest on the banks of the Kwando River. You will be staying two nights at Namushasha River Lodge. The lodge is situated 24kms south of Kongola in the eastern confines of the Zambezi Region. The dining room, with its high thatched roof, is open on the sides to the river world, providing a suitable - and airy - welcome to wonderland. The Lodge offers, amongst others, boat- and fishing tours on the Kwando River, which you can book on site. With your tour guide you will embark on game drives in the National Park. Dinner, Bed and Breakfast – Namushasha Lodge
Today you will travel via Katima Mulilo to Kasane in Botswana. You will stay at “The Old House”, a small family-run guesthouse with a view onto the Chobe River. Your tour guide will bid you farewell and drive back to Namibia. In the afternoon you will take part in a boat cruise on the Chobe River. You will be able to sight elephants, hippopotami, water buffalos, crocodiles and many birds. Leisurely let the adventurous day die away with an almost unnatural appearing sunset. Bed & Breakfast – The Old House
The crowning concluding grandeur of your vacation will be the visit to the Victoria Falls. With an organized shuttle you will cross over the national border to Zimbabwe. Your accommodation is a cozy guesthouse, approximately 3 km from the waterfalls, under German management. From here you can visit the art market as well as the waterfalls, one of the seven world wonders in the world under your own volition, or you can book a guided tour if you so wish. Very popular is an optional sundowner cruise on the Zambezi into the sunset. A Heliflip over the falls is also recommended (not included in the price). Bed & Breakfast – Amadeus Garden
You have enough time in the morning to stroll around, before you will be taken to the airport for your connecting flight. We hope you take many wonderful memories back home in your suitcase and sun in your heart.
