Arrival at OR Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg. You are welcomed by your personal tour guide who will drive you in a north-easterly direction via Dullstroom direction Sabie. Misty Mountain is a place of tranquillity and natural beauty and owner managed establishment. Owned and operated as a lodge by the Sheard family since 1974. Today we drive along the so-called Panorama Route famous for some of the most scenic destinations in Mpumalanga. A particularly impressive view is the one through what is known as “Gods Window”. The day's destination is the Thornybush Game Reserve, where the first exciting game drive is on the itinerary for the afternoon. KwaMbili is situated in the Thornybush Game Reserve near Hoedspruit, within the Greater Kruger area. The reserve is home to the Big Five as well as an abundance of other game and bird species. KwaMbili means “Place of Two” in the local Shangaan language. Décor throughout the lodge is inspired by the film Out of Africa, based on Karen Blixen’s autobiography. After a last tranquil game drive and with new power, you will drive through the Orpen Gate into the Kruger National Park. Hopefully you will see plenty of game on the few hours drive through the park. In the afternoon, leave the park through Phabeni Gate and drive to your abode for the night. We continue southeast through the provinces of Mpumalanga and Kwazulu Natal. At the foot of the legendary Ghost Mountain in Mkuze, Northern KwaZulu-Natal lies the enchanting Ghost Mountain Inn. Through the Memorial Gate, we head to the Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve always on the lookout for Antelopes, Zebras, Rhinos and many more. Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve is the oldest and most beautiful game parks in South Africa. You exit the park further south and continue to St. Lucia. Unwind on a long walk on the endless beach of Cape Vidal and relax. St. Lucia Guest House is a secluded bed and breakfast in the iSimangaliso Wetland Park (St. Lucia Wetlands Park) World Heritage Site in KwaZulu-Natal. The next morning you will take part in a ±2-hour boat cruise on Lake St. Lucia and in the afternoon, you will embark on an excursion through the Eastern Shore Area to Cape Vidal. Continue along the coast towards the south. A quick detour to Durban to obtain a quick impression of the city, before continuing to Port Shepstone where you will spend the night in a pleasant guest house. Today the journey continues to the Eastern Cape, in the direction of East London via Mthatha. Cintsa Lodge is nestled amongst the dunes of the Wild Coast of South Africa. Via East London the route takes you towards the Addo Elephant Park. Zuurberg Mountain Village is a 150 year old haven of historical delight situated high up on the Zuurberg Pass. They are an exclusive mountain top Hotel, set in 160 hectares of indigenous vegetation with breath-taking views of the famous Addo Elephant National Park. After breakfast you drive through the Addo Elephant Park with plenty of wildlife viewing. Elephants, Lions, Buffaloes, Rhinos, Hyenas, Leopards and a multitude of different antelopes as we as Zebras are at home here. Afterwards, carry on via Port Elisabeth and along the eastern part of the Garden Route towards the Tsitsikamma National Park. In the foothills of the Tsitsikamma mountains surrounded by natural forest and fynbos, lies the village of Storms River, where you will discover Armagh Country Lodge. Carry along the Garden Route via Plettenberg to Knysna. En route you will make a pitstop to the wonderful Robberg Marine Nature Reserve. Here you can take walks along the rugged cliffs and on the way you can spot seals, dolphins and with a bit of luck even whales. Furthermore, the Robberg peninsula is a real birds paradise. From Knysna you will take the “Three Legs Ferry” on a good hour's boat cruise to the Knysna Heads. Waterfront Lodge is ideally situated for you to explore many of the attractions that the Garden Route has to offer, with beautiful beaches, forests and mountains. It is time to leave the coast behind and drive inland to Oudtshoorn in the Little Karoo. Your abode for the night will be De Denne Guest House, an authentic country house located on an ostrich farm outside Oudtshoorn. The old farmhouse was lovingly restored and the guest rooms comfortably furnished. On this morning’s agenda is a guided ostrich farm tour and you can get a close look at these fascinating ratites / “flightless birds” and learn amazing facts about them. If you like, you can also buy an ostrich egg to take home with you. Continue west along Route 62 to the famous Walker Bay in Hermanus, where whales are often sighted from the beach from July to November, as they sometimes swim close to the shore during those months. Lavender Manor Guest Lodge is an owner managed luxury guest house in Hermanus, in the heart of the picturesque Cape Whale Coast near Cape Town. Overlooking famous Blue Flag Grotto Beach and the whale sanctuary of Walker Bay, you are within two minutes’ walk of the various magnificent beaches in the area as well as the famous scenic cliff path.
Today’s route takes you to the beautiful wine country in the Cape with Franschoek as the destination for the night. On the way you can visit several vineyards and participate in some wine tastings (optional). Overnight in the delightful guesthouse Le Petit Paris. After a leisurely breakfast you drive to Paarl and further on to Cape Town, the so-called "Mother City". Olaf’s Guest House is a charming bed & breakfast accommodation with nine individually decorated en-suite bedrooms. Ideally located in beautiful Sea Point, Olaf’s Guest House is only 10 minutes away from the popular beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay. Here you will spend the last three nights of your tour. A round trip of the Cape Peninsula is on the itinerary for today and at the Cape of Good Hope you can take a walk along the beach. Worth visiting is also the fishing port of Hout Bay. Today you can sit in one of the pretty cafes on Long Street, and let the colourful ambience take you into another world until it is time to head to the airport, where your guide will bid you farewell to head back to Johannesburg, and you having to say goodbye to beautiful South Africa.
